Intermittent no-start when warm, 2002 9-3, ideas?

We've got a 2002 9-3SE with 45,000 miles. Lately it has developed an intermittent no-start problem when warm. This occurs typically after the engine has been shutoff for maybe 20-40 minutes (such as when you've gone into the grocery store) and then come out and try to start it. The engine spins over fine but there is no hint of any cylinder firing. I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when the ignition is first turned on. The dash lights & gauges all light up and work...except the tach doesn't move when the engine is being cranked over (maybe it's not suppose to on these vintage cars?). Generally I try 4-5 cranking sessions, with no starting. If I then wait a few minutes more it generally then starts right up. Starts fine when cold and if it sits for a shorter or longer time. Runs fine otherwise. Any ideas on possible causes? Dealer has checked everything and all measurements seem fine (when it's running). Had a somewhat similar (but more prevalent) problem years ago on a 1998 900 and problem turned out to be a bad crank position sendor. Thanks for any help you can provide!
