I just went through the same situation and tore down the whole front of the engine. My chain was at 15mm but the timing chain guides were in good shape. The problem was the balance chain set up which was totally destroyed with a broken guide and tensioner. You might want to remove the balance chain and run in a new timing chain from the top of the engine. Way easier and cheaper than a full tear down. Might fix the problem or at least buy you some time. To remove the balance chain all that is required is dropping the pan and cutting the chain. A new timing chain can be run in from the top with the valve cover off. While I am happy with my all new timing set up sans balance chain it was a major headache and I had to do it twice because I thought the cover had not sealed properly when in fact it was the oil pump seal.
