What should the brake pedal feel like?

Hi, what exactly should the brake pedal feel like in a 2001 9-3? The pads/rotors are fairly new, and my Dad and I just bled the system. The car brakes quite well, but the pedal seems soft. While stopped with the car running, I can push the pedal quite far down with only moderate resistance. It seems to bottom out, but I don't believe it is completely on the floor. My Dad says his 2005 9-5 seems similar.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-=Keith=-
