Of course I'm happy with the car, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it even after having known of its "issues." Every car has its issues, and you learn to deal with them. In my opinion, if you get to know you car really well (as I do mine) there are things you can do to prevent the bad things from happening. Thankfully there are lovely BB such as this one, where you can read about the repeating problems...and you can do some preventative maintenance yourself, and get to know your car. I have no complaints for the car, I don't drive it aggressively, haven't modified it, and really have no reason to. It's a sweet car, and I wouldn't ever want to sell it. If my engine were to blow up tomorrow, I'd do whatever I can do get another...rather than sell it. Its rarity, uniqueness and quirky characteristics, not to mention looks that stand out amongst all of the other babies make this car amazing.
I did not remove the valve cover, or do anything like that...I also had the full service history, but then again mine only had 30k mikes. If you'd like, you could remove the valve cover to see how it looks in there, but if you have the full service history with consistent oil-interval changes, using synthetic...then, you should probably be fine, but it wouldn't hurt. Hopefully you know who you're buying from.
