Agreed. I've had my '00 5dr since new. Very few problems. It has it's quirks, but has done pretty much anything I've ever asked of it. Good power, great gas mileage, good in snow, flexible enough to be a hauler.
My only issue with it now is that when I load my three kids in the back, and the mastiff under the hatch, it's really really tight; so I'm shopping around now.. but honestly, it's really hard to find anything new out there that can do as much in one car (gas mileage, power, space, finish level, utility, uniqueness, handling).
Torque steer and tramming have always been a quirk, as well as a lack of limited slip so one tire spins. With a '00, you don't have traction contol either; I haven't really missed it though since the '01 and newer is too conservative (but can be disabled). The other issue is the stock wheels are very prone to bending.
