Sport Mode uses software to allow higher RPM upshifts and downshifts at lighter throttle inputs.
Winter Mode starts the transmission in 3rd gear (skipping 1st and 2nd gear) to help prevent wheel spin in slick conditions.
Neither mode will cause any long term damage to the vehicle or the automatic transmission.
