I have a 2001 9-3 base (185hp engine), and I've been using 87 since I bought the car in 2004. I never noticed anything weird, except a couple of days ago. The CEL came on. I called the indy mech, and they said don't use anything other than 93 grade, or bad things will happen. I'm going to have the codes pulled later today...
The manual recommends 90, and says 87 is the minimum for my car (and recommends 93, minimum 87 for the 205hp engine). What should I be using to avoid engine damage? I'm not particularly concerned about performance.
Thanks,
-=Keith=-
