I have a '97 900S with 216K and an '02 9-3SE with 85k I think the '97 is a better car. Simple things like the carpets in the old car are nicer and the simple manual climate control. The 9-3 is nice but I don't have the feeling it will reach the same mileage as the 900. Granted the 9-3 has more "stuff" leather, turbo, power this and that but for 90% of the time it's just more complex stuff to break. I've had more repairs on the 9-3 with less than half the mileage of the 900.The 9-3 has had h2o pump twice (once under warranty), DIC under warranty, throttle body (out of warranty), SID(under warranty) , ACC control (under warranty). I bought the 9-3 figuring they would have it all sussed out by the last model but they really just GM'd it. Oddity is I paid less for the 9-3 than the 900 and the 9-3 was a CPO car. A bigger dilema for me is what do you get when the 900/9-3's just plain wear out? One more thing the 900 still gets better gas mileage than the 9-3 even with the mileage.
