we have a 96 900 turbo 5 door. It has been cheep as far as what the typical car owner pays for as I do all the repairs (minus the trans. replacement). when we first got it in the first year it was a horror story - everything that the belt touches had to be replaced, power steering pump, alternator, tensioner, water pump, tensioner.....then one day before we were to leave for vacation the DIC went out. Left it stranded in a parking lot. I was forced to have it fixed wile we were out of town= way more expensive than it should have been...
But what do you consider major? If you can do the work yourself it usually makes sense to fix it and go on with the relationship. As dumping it and getting something different is usually very expensive to get the kinks out of something used and a car you cant buy with cash...well then the major repair is only a payment or two on that expensive replacement..drive on and welcome the adventure.
