Every car I've ever seen with black wheels looked terrible. Even a "dark silver" just looks dirty. But chrome looks cheesy on new cars, IMHO.

I saw a show about automobile industrial design a few years ago, and they explained why silver is the color of choice for wheels - it makes the wheel look bigger, whereas the black wheel makes the wheel look smaller and hence the tire look bigger (think high profile tires on a black steel rims on a Corolla). If you've got nice wheels, showcase them!
