So I wrote the thread recently about my '95 9000 CSE that broke down on new years with a blown head gasket and possible head damage. I sold that car and bought a new '98 900 S Convertible. I fell in love with my new car and I still love my old one. The engine compartment looked in really good condition.
This is my 3rd week owning the car and I don't live on a hill I only drove up maybe 3 hills since I bought the car. I noticed when driving that driving from 2nd to 3rd gear the revs would slip about 500-1000 before the car would accelerate the revolutions would drop. I was begining to guess the clutch was slipping. Today going up a hill the revs jumped more than normal and most power to the gears diminished greatly. My car made it up the hill and once up there starting from a stop in first gear the car revs and barely accelerates.
I called the mechanic who worked on my 9000 and sold me the 900 he also works on Audi, BMW, Saabs, and Volvos. He seems to think I drove the car improperely etc. I had the car for 2-3 weeks live on a flat area and went up a couple hills at most. Sorry for the lengthy post I hope you can stay with me on this I really need advice.
I am sure I need a new clutch and saw that eEuroparts sells a clutch kit. What is the best way to handle this problem :( the dealers are far from my location maybe 20 miles or so. I want to fix the clutch and I haven't dropped the oil pan or lifted the valve cover to check for sludge which I have been wanting to due to ensure the car is a good investment for me.
What other problems should I look into while the Clutch needs replacement? Flywheel inspection, Gearbox inspection, Oil Pan drop/inspection, Suspension & CV boots, I also have a small radiator leak not sure where. I'm still paying off the car and I'm a struggling student with some college done and two part time jobs. Please any advice is helpful.
What should I do about the clutch. What kind of clutch do I need for my 900 2.3l no turbo. Is it a good time to handle the radiator leak, checking for sludge, suspension and exhaust inspection and functions. Should I try to order the parts myself then pay a mechanic or the dealership? My car is on top of a hill in a parking lot and barely moves in first gear due to the expired clutch.
This has been a horrible new year for my bank account, college savings, and stress levels :(
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
