Are you sure the other clutch parts are correct? If he's giving you a hydraulic slave cyl, then I would also question weather the other parts are correct.
With the mechanical clutch release, we recommend replacing the throw out bearing and the metal sleeve that it slides on. The sleeve contains the input shaft seal for the transmission.
Its also a good idea to put on a new clutch cable. The ends of the cable are notorious for comming off.
