1999 9-3 104,000 miles

The post below about 30w oil has got me thinking... bad I know lol

I lived in Florida for 6 yrs & always used mobil 1 15w-50 oil. I moved to Maryland last summer & this past winter I used mobil 1 truck/diesel 5w-40.

I recently had my car serviced at Viking Saab in Gaithersburg MD (great place!!) and when I mentioned 15w50, he said he didn't have that but for full synthetic oil he had BG 0w-30, which he said was "rated higher" than mobil 1. I said OK, so long as it's full synthetic that's all I really cared about. I'm not sure what he meant when he said rated higher & I didn't ask, like I said I wasn't too concerned about it.

But many here feel that 30w oil is too light, yes? I am going on a road trip soon and am considering changing out the new BG oil in favor of my trusty 15w-50.... is this crazy?
