'02 9-3SE AC Issue Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Sun, 19 Jul 2009 13:34:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My parents' '02 9-3 has an ongoing AC issue which is driving me wonky. Summary explanation is that cooling performance is inconsistent - sometimes it's arctic, sometimes it's so warm it feels like the heat is on. What my dad says:
=====
First trip it was mid-80's. Turned on the air and damn near froze to death.
On the return, it was in the high 80's. A/C was okay but uninspiring. Car was comfortably cool. Air output seemed diminished.
Second trip it was mid-90's. A/C was a failure in process. Car stayed somewhat cool but not cold by any means and nothing either of us could do changed that.
On the return, we futzed with the controls. The "coolness" is moreso from the drivers vent than the center vent which is more cool than the passenger vent.
=====
Last weekend we checked pressures in the system - sitting in 90+ degree weather with the car idling low side was 40-41 psi and high side was 150-160psi. After that check, I personally witnessed cold air from the driver's side vent and somewhat cool air from the passenger's side vent. That's weird.
It sounds like maybe a door isn't closing in the system somewhere? Not sure. Any ideas or places to look?
