2000 9-3 speedometer sensor

While exiting the local beltline today, I got the "ding" and the brake warning light. The ABS light also came on. Because I was on the bank of the offramp, I thought I might just be low on brake fluid as that happened once before and showed up while in a banked turn.
Checking the brake fluid, the level seemed to be OK. When I started the engine again, I got the same warning lights and now the speedometer was dead. At that point I drove home and found a P0502 code had been logged.
Searching this board, I read tips about the speedometer sensor in the right rear passenger side wheel and pulling the connector and cleaning it. It did not seem very dirty, but after doing that and plugging it back in, everything was fine. This was the first time in 9 years I had ever pulled and cleaned that connector and I don't know if that has been done in the past as part of standard maintenance at my local Saab indy shop.
Is there anything else I should watch for or check at this point, or was this really the simple fix? If so, Saabnet comes through again!
