Difficulty shifting - how to diagnose if linkage? Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 11:45:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My car is a 900 SETC with 237K. I've been experiencing difficulty shifting now that New England is experiencing warmer weather (not quite summer, more like late spring!). It's worst in higher gears, generally not a problem getting into reverse, 1st, or 2nd. Feels like the clutch is not fully releasing.
I replaced the clutch cable to see if that would help but no dice. The transmission and clutch were replaced about 40k ago so I don't think that is the issue. I'm thinking/hoping linkage but want to do some diagnosis before replacing another part at more expense.
I'll check linkage alignment but are there other things to look for that may indicate a worn linkage? I replaced the linkage a long time ago, probably close to 100k ago. Not sure if the linkage was replaced when the transmssion was done.
Thanks,
Ian
