Even the brightest LEDs can't really compare with a standard 1156 incandescent bulb unless you start spending ridiculous amounts of money. An 1156 bulb would be your cheapest upgrade. It's 26.9 watts vs. 21 watts for the 7506 you have right now. I put 2396 bulbs in my car, which are about 25% brighter than an 1156. They're pretty decent, but can be somewhat hard to find. I bought a 10 pack on eBay, and use them for the front and rear backup lights. Some other options are a P3497, which is a Krypton version of the 1156 used by Honda. One place claims it's 43% brighter than an 1156, and the brightest would be the 796 halogen. It's 35 watts, which most people say won't burn the plastic housing.
