I did rebuild because of sludge. I did my best to clean things up but maybe I didn't do a very good job. I drove home tonight on back roads and the car did fine, until I got about 3 blocks from my house, and the ding-dong and oil light came back when I was braking. If it is sludge in the sump, why does the oil light only ding-dong after about 20 minutes of driving? Is it possible that it is engine temp related?
