Well, IF the motor is indeed damaged due to lack of oil, or for any reason for that matter, fixing the seals will not solve anything. Other than there will be new seals in a broken motor.
However, if enough oil leaked out to cause a problem then the oil pressure light would most likely have come on, AND the engine would be significantly low on oil, would not even register on the dip stick.
If oil pressure is ok, the car may be low on oil, but should not be low enough to cause a problem.
If the engine will not stay running, and its making disturbing noises (thumping/knocking) while attempting to do so, then there certainly could be seriously damaged internal parts.
If you have a friend that could run a compression test, that may give you some information, assuming the engine will crank over enough to do one. 0psi on one or more cylinders would point to a severe problem. Removing the valve cover could also shed some light on the issue, perhaps something is busted in the valve train. Does the engine have any oil in it? Drain the oil, if there are chunky bits of metal in it, also a bad sign.
