This is a classic problem and there's no easy solution. If you scap it your going to get next to nothing for the car and then you have to buy another car. Beleive it or not fixing it is the cheap way out. I would get a new/rebuilt engine with a warrenty for it. Let's say it costs $5000. The way to look at it is, what kind of car could you buy for $5000? Probably something with well over 100,000 miles. If you fix your car you have a car that you know the history of, and it has a rebuilt engine with a warrenty. You'll be able to drive it for another 100,000 miles and 5/6 years and when you're done, you can probably sell it for $2,000.
