You've got a lot of miles on that car. If you wanted to keep it a while longer I'd look for an independent mechanic.
That is probably a difficult engine to find due to the sludging issues, but it also makes finding a tranny easier. I would normally say that dropping the engine and tranny as one and swapping them both for another with lower miles.
I would suspect you might find someone to do it for $500 to $1,000. Plus, if you do your homework you should be able to find a good donor car to part out, or just a tranny (for $500 or so). If you parted the car out you would pay for the tranny.
But, if you just want a salvage price. I'd be surprised if you got $1,000 if half. If you parted it out yourself I think you would be able to get near $2,000. But it is a bit of elbow grease and takes a fair amount of space for 4-6 months. But the learning experience is great.
I've parted out two NG 900 verts and made close to $1,000 each and one gave up its engine and tranny to me.
