You can install the factory amp or another small amp. I ended up installing full range speakers in the door locations and used the existing wiring to connect up to a small MTX amp that I rigged to go into the same spot as the factory amp (behind the kick panel in the passenger footwell that I mentioned earlier). To do that, you have to modify the connector that would have connected to the factory amp that Adam mentions.
