Does this sound like a dying clutch? Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Sat, 13 Nov 2010 19:16:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is my first car with a manual tranny so I have zero experience with what a failing clutch feels like. The car is a 2001 9-3 SE convertible with about 120k miles, original clutch.
Getting off the highway tonight (in 5th), pushed the clutch to shift out of gear and the pedal felt stiff going in and didn't really come off the floor. I pumped it a couple times and it came back, but it was tough to get it into 1st (kind of had to force it), 2nd and 3rd.
After a couple shifts, the shifter and pedal felt normal again, but I can hear a noise with the car coasting in gear and the clutch pedal depressed. It sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging, but the noise goes away if I let off the clutch even a little bit. Kind of hard to describe.
Thanks for any advice.
