Maybe Maybe not. I dont know what the expected lifespan of the clutch disc for a 9-3 is, but with high mileage you run the risk of the clutch disc becoming worn enough that the rivets on the disc could contact either the pressure plate and/or the flywheel. There of course is the chance that the disc itself could come apart, the friction material simply flying off the disc.
I wouldn't recommend any high rpm clutch drops :)
for what its worth, I've always done all the work on my autos (unless it was under warranty) not to mention those of friends. Personally I have never encountered a hydraulic clutch that simply ceased functioning one day. Typically there are signs than things are getting worn in some fashion.
