I was wondering which one she was referring to also.
I currently own 2 c900s and a 9-5 + test drove numerous 9-3s (mostly 2001) back to back with our c900s. Imho, of the 3 (c900, 9-3, 9-5), the c900 is by far the tightest, most fun car handling-wise. It also has the most "road feel" (if you like that, I do, but some don't! bump bump bump). The 9-3 is much faster (though I don't own an SPG, even a base 9-3 has more power). The 9-5 is the best highway car (ever)... and it's plenty fast also... this is all my opinion, but it's at least not based on memory, it's based on back to back comparisons (I drove the same 300 miles in the 1993 c900 today that I drove in the 9-5 yesterday)... oh and fwiw, the c900 automatic, while fragile + lacking a gear (bad fuel economy), actually drives pretty well. Much better than many modern automatics from other brands imho... but a stick is much better of course...
In terms of problems... main weak point in the c900 is the transmissions. In the 9-3, you'll get tons of comments here (and search the board) but you will want to check for sludge if it's 2000 or newer (1999 is T5)... the cheap way is coathanger, the expensive (better) way is to drop the pan.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the 9-3 too + they are much more practical to own than a c900 these days! Take your time + find a good one... good luck!
James...
