Well I am 5 hours into a water pump and serp belt replacement. At present the old belt is out, new tensioner and idler pully installed. The water pump has been replaced and reinstalled. I have installed all new hoses and a thermostat. All that is left is to replace the heater hoses, install the power steering pump, battery, turbo intake pipe, fresh air intake housing and filer, install the new belt, un-pin the tensioner, (carefully) close the radiator drain, install new 50/50 mix of the orange stuff and my SAAB should be ready to roll. This is must say was a pretty tough job. Getting the at three bolts holding the water pump on was tough, removing the turbo cooling connectiong was particulary nasty, as were the hose clamps. The car is a 2002 93 SE HOT with 160k miles. I am the orginal owner and plan to keep the car. As far as the condition of the hoses, I think they would have gone another year or two. Both the water pump and thermostat looked amost new, no grime, crud or corrosion. The water pump bearing seemed fine as well, no slop and spun freely. The serp belt was about shot (80k miles).
