Hey guys, got another evening to work on this. First of all, I forgot to mention the exact year and model of the car. 97 SET 5 door, manual transmission.
Question about the intake manifold. I've removed the bolts that are holding it to the block (those were fun to get to) but it is still stuck to the block. I see in a manual that you should remove the screws on the "intake manifold stay" I've worked my arm under the intake manifold and I can't feel any more bolt heads that could be holding it to the block.
Still puzzled about the fuel lines too, from what I am seeing, I may not need to disconnect them from the fuel rail, since there is some play in the flex portion of the lines. If I am wrong, please let me know. Also, do the injectors and electrical connections need to be removed from the intake manifold, or is it OK to leave them in place, pull back the intake manifold, and rest it on the block?
I think that is it for now. I think I am getting close to getting the head off, still need to do the following:
Zero engine and line cam marks up with the marks on their brackets.
Remove timing chain tensioner.
Remove cam sprockets and support the chain so it does not fall.
Any other advice is appreciated. Thanks everybody!
