Unfortunately, it is not this small...it looks like someone backed into my car with the corner of their front or rear bumper and the damage is a stretched circle approximately 10" wide and at least 1" deep. You can slide your finger behind the black moulding if that gives you an idea. Fortunately, the quarter panel is undamaged, so I just need a door. This was a hit and run - no note - and my deductible is $1000 which is why I am looking for ways to save some money.
I was driving by a shop that specializes in used Saab & Volvo sales in Northern Virginia earlier today and found a black 2000 9-3 convertible which looks to have been pretty well scavenged, but with an intact passenger door. The interior is a bit ragged due to being exposed to the weather, but if I can just move everything from my car that would be perfect.
The repair estimates with a new door, paint and R&I have been about $2100, so if I can get by for $600-800 with a salvage door I will be a happy camper.
