Are you talking about the rubber hanger at the front of the rear muffler? The one that slides sideways onto a rod on the muffler? If so, then yes, there is supposed to be a clip holding it on.

If yours is missing, you might be able to replace it with a hardware store 'push washer' or 'push nut' for a 1/2" bolt. I did this because the OEM clips (which you can get from eEuroparts) didn't seem to fit my aftermarket replacement muffler. I hit the end of the rod with a hammer a few times to mushroom it enough for my push nut to grab hold. AFAIK, it's fine 2+ years later.

FYI, I also had to deal with a rattling rusted-out heat shield, but when I tried to add a bigger washer, the stud where it mounts to the body snapped off. I fabricated a bracket out of aluminum strip, punched a new hole in the heat shield, and secured it to a nearby bolt. It's been quiet ever since.
