I would start by looking at the MAF, It is such a common problem area I have a guide for the less experienced shops. I have also seen some wiring harness issues on the early 99s. Whats the nature of each failure? Since you have 3 dead ones now. There has to be a trend. If there is another problem in the system then it will certainly continue unless that is rectified.
A "Viggen" motor is just a B235R Same as used in the 9-5 Aero and from 2001 all of the 9-5 2.3 models have the better exhaust valves. Just needs to be in the range of before MY2004, since they changed the crankcase venting for 04 and that might stump a mechanic.. Also best to get one thats 2001 or later..
