Are you in the US?
If it had been a 900 with non turbo engine I would have guessed air pump (SAI) starting up normally when cold but the 9-3 US spec doesn't have an air pump. Rest of the world I don't know.
Can you alter the sound by changing the rpm of engine?
I would remove serpentine belt first even before lifting the valve cover just to take all those moving parts out of the equation.
Next I would look at the EVAP system and maybe disable those hoses if for any reason the turbo impeller creates some suction through those during the higher idle at cold start.
I see the check valve is broken for PCV system and the car doesn't have the latest PCV fix #6. It almost looks like it have the #4 fix which might create air noise in the oil filler pipe.
