Key switch jammed, had been giving me problems such as the center not popping up. This time it did pop up, however could not depress it to turn the key, nor would it come out of reverse. Had already done a search of the board and tried all the jigglin', shakin', and WD40, all to no avail. So I got my Haynes book out and took it all apart.
What I've found is the key switch itself is jammed. Doesn't look like it can be disassembled either, as the end is peened over. So I'll look for a replacement. I'm able to use a flat-blade screw driver to turn the ignition switch, and the car runs and drives fine. (of course I wasn't home when this happened!) Needless to say the reverse lock crap will NOT be re-installed. The question I have is this: Am I correct in assuming any key switch will from similar year/model will work, not requiring any "marrying" to the car? Seems like if a screw driver will work any key switch from another car will work as well.
