Experienced tapered brake pad wear from outer to inner circumference on my 2002 Saab 9-3 SE, living in the salt-zone of New England, running Akebono Euro Ceramic EUR819 Brake Pads seated to Brembo 25519 Rotors using ATE Super Blue Racing DOT4 Brake Fluid.

Brakes felt slightly soft, but was devoid of noise or judder. Caliper pins slide fine. Bolts offered no play. Only possibilities that I or my mechanic could come up with, is play within the retaining springs (springs worn), rotor manufacturing issues, or rust forming on the outside of the rotor grinding the inside face (far from unlikely).
Contacted Akebono to inquire upon noticing, and rather then dismiss the claim, they made it a priority, shipping new pads in exchange for the spent pads, rotors, and retaining springs; stating that "field information is very valuable to any brake manufacturer".
Replaced with Akebono Euro Ceramic EUR819 Brake Pads seated to ATE Original 450142 Rotors using ATE TYP 200 Amber Brake Fluid, while refreshing the retaining springs.
Both ATE rotor lines; the Original and PremiumOne, now offer the company's "MetaCote" protective coating -- essential given the road salt used in New England. Optimistic on this setup's outcome. Those Brembo's did not fair well.
Akebono feels that the MetaCote coating will help. Their pads have an "Ferritic nitro-carburizing (FNC) process which solves judder concerns caused by corrosion build-up on rotor braking surface. Since our pads have no metals except for copper (less than 5%)." The feeling is that the Brembo rotors were inadequate. Brembo supplied no response or interest in engaging.
It has been a pleasant lengthy and continuing correspondence with Akebono; invoking greater confidence in their product born out of their curiosities to manufacture a better product.
