I put a small floor jack under my Viggen on the front cross member just to jack it up a handfull of inches so I can comfortably get under the car and loosen the drain bolt and spin off the filter. The Viggen front spoiler is very low, so you may not even have to do that on a normal 9-3.
One thing to be very careful about though is to use a 6-point socket on the drain bolt. The bolt was designed by someone with a nasty sense of humor as it is ever so slightly tapered and almost guaranteed to round over if using an open end wrench or 12 point socket.
All in all, the car is easy and clean to change oil. I especially like the filter set-up as it drains very cleanly into a pan, unlike many other cars.
