CPS, DIC, Vac leak......?

I have had a stumble on takeoff for quite awhile, happens in 1st and reverse. Also low power at low RPMs, have to downshift on any slight grade, etc.
At one point six months ago, I got a code (don't know it) that was read by the local indie. He told me my CPS was on the way out. The car starts fine and, with exception of the power/stumbling runs fine. I'm averaging 28 MPG commuting to work and back.
I replaced all the vac hoses to the TB and found the evap test port cap loose and thought that was it for awhile.
I have never had cranking/starting issues, which makes me think it is NOT the CPS, and the car has never thrown codes indicating misfire, etc pointing to the DIC.
Only recently, it has begun to stall out when coasting and at stoplights when idling longer than about 30 secs to a minuite.
Any ideas? I have read that Evap issues may cause idle/stumble problems due to expecting mixture different that produced. Also there may be a vac leak I can't find.
Any tests I could do? I'm handy but not car smart, so if you have a pic or location of a part you talk about testing, that would be great ;-}
Thanks, Skip
