I think the night panel feature makes it really easy on the eyes when your on long night drives or if your eyes are just tired. and as Seth said the gauges come to life only if you need to know something. As far as getting the SID out. I used some metal skewers that fit perfectly into the holes when I needed to remove the radio. Once you slide the radio out just slip your hand in and push the SID out from the back. Again, as Seth said, if something dried in there and is gumming it up you may be better off pushing out from behind. You don't even need to unplug the radio. Look on ebay for BBA Reman. If you buy the repair that way it only cost 60 something bucks. I don't remember exactly.
