ABS fault: Can airbag deploy w/o collision??? Posted by ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ryan) on Thu, 8 Nov 2012 08:01:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On my way to work this morning, the ABS light came on along with the triangular one with the exclamation point (not sure what it's formally called), and they stayed on. I pulled over and checked the manual, which said that the airbags could 1. Not deploy in an accident 2. Deploy without ANY collision 3. Deploy in a much smaller collision than they're supposed to.
Two and three got me especially worried, so I pulled the fuse.
However, I have heard from past posts on this board that the airbags cannot deploy like 2 and 3 would suggest. Does anybody KNOW the truth here? Anders?
I guess I will just have to follow up with a Tech2 scan and if that doesn't help pinpoint it, clean some of the connections as I've heard the issue of moisture/corrosion giving a different resistance across the connections and tripping the fault.
Thanks guys.
