Overnight method of bleeding clutch seems to have fixed Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Wed, 23 Jan 2013 00:40:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
very difficult and baffling shifting problem. I'm still not sure how just holding down the pedal overnight can bleed the clutch, nor do I understand how air would just get into the system when no recent work has been done with the clutch. However, after about 2 days of "hold down" on the pedal, the car is and has been shifting now for several days. Reverse problem is still there, and seemed slightly worse, but I think that could be from all the shifter alignments I was doing. I wish I could fix that problem, but it sounds like it's an internal problem with the trans only, so definitely not in the cards any time soon.
I still have that oil film all over the top of the trans/engine near the part where the linkage "links" into the transmission, so any ideas on exactly what this might be, how serious, and if fixable would be appreciated.
Thanks Nick Taliaferro for the suggestion about the hydraulics, as it appears that was indeed a problem!
