I just bought an 01 Viggen, 173k miles one month ago and i was enjoying the car for about a week. Then I had to replace the thermostat because the temp gauge refuses to move from cold. After that the boost is not powerful anymore. It will still boost to almost the end of yellow but i dont feel the torque steer nor do I get pulled back to my seat. It's just not the same powerful boost.
I have read through the forum and found a few things that I did:
Replaced spark plugs with platinum and gapped to .037" - no help
Replaced used but newer DI (was giving me CEL)- no help
Replaced MAF with new OEM - no effect.
Put in new Mann air filter - no help.
I removed the hose from wastegate and got strong boost to red and fuel cut (no CEL) so I thought BPC faulty. Replaced with new OEM BPC but still same low boost. I tried to move the WGA side to side but it won't budge.
I replaced and isnpected all vacuum hoses at the TB and checked other hoses for loose or cracked, nothing found suspicious.
I keep saying to myself, did I leave any hose or connector when I replaced the thermostat? I re-checked and everything looks good.
So now I am asking all the kind SAAB masters for help. What should I do or look for? Do I replace my plugs with copper? but it was boosting fine with old platinum before.
Thanks everyone.
