There is a 180 degree twist inthe driver's seat belt that I find very annoying. Either one of the previous owners folded the belt over itself some time in the past and the twist has disappeared deep into the retractor mechanism, or it was installed wrong at the factory.

I have fully extended the belt looking for the fold but can't find it. I have tried to insert another fold to cancel out the hidden one and can't. It appears easy to rotate the lower anchorage point 180 degrees but then the buckle will be backwards.

Can the buckle be removed?

Can the retractor mechanism be easily removed?

This is on a 2000 Convertible by the way.
