Boost Control Valve, BPV Solenoid Valve, new plugs Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 29 Jun 2014 12:05:33 In Reply to: What kind of parts?, bender [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 28 Jun 2014 21:05:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
While installing these I discovered:
- I need a new O-ring for the Throttle Body inlet
- I did not have enough silicone vacuum line in my cabinet to replace all the vacuum lines on the Viggen.
- The turbo by-pass valve solenoid is riveted to its mounting bracket and my pop rivet gun won't fit into the thin recesses of the valve body. Machine screws, nuts, and lock washers did the trick.
- The C hose connected to the Boost Control valve was nearly severed at the Turbo inlet (became severed during installation of the Boost control valve) so my old BCV and BPV Solenoid were probably OK.
- I need a new R-W-C hose set for the Boost Control Valve as result of above discovery
- The C line has a small and razor sharp hose clamp securing the line to the brass fitting on the compressor inlet. No wonder the hose became damaged.
- One of the old Autolite double platinum plugs which I removed did not have a crimp washer on it. Of course I did not notice this until I was picking up the old parts to throw them away, so I had to remove the DIC/IDM and all four new NGK plugs looking for the missing crimp washer on a new plug or in the plug recess.
A real Three Stooges kind of morning working in the driveway.
