Yes, you should not increase boost pressure without getting lower intake and exhaust restrictions. So the Sports exhaust is a must, as well as the K&N drop in filter.
The controller can be had from hallmanboostcontroller.com. This will take you to the sole dealer of this item. $95 delivered. I can assist with the install. Also for a bit more, consider the high performance boost controller shown on the provided link. For $29 more, this is my recommendation. It has all of the benefits of the HBC, and more. Darn better looking too! We need a first install and review for this. I would like to try this one out myself.
If you go with increased pressure, I also suggest hooking the controller up with it's input pressure source being at the throttle body. This should be above the throttle plate. But with these check valve style controllers, could be after the throttle plate. I can also advise on that.
The throttle body transistion casting can be removed very quickly. You can remove it, work on it, wash and replace several times if needed. So it is something that you can work on in stages. Even a partial rework will be noticeable. See:
