Lost coolant Suddenly!_Update Posted by MontereyAero [Email] (#506) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MontereyAero) on Tue, 17 Feb 2015 13:28:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Update on spectacular blown upper heater hose on '00 9.3 2.0l 'vert. Possible related issue was irregular readings on coolant temperature gauge.
Drove car home after duct tape roadside repair. R/R both heater hoses, thermostat, temperature sending unit. Taking opportunity to do a multi-day flush of cooling system. Plan to replace coolant with Prestone All-Makes/Models fluid. The label says it contains Ethylene glycol and Diethylene glycol suitable for all cars and light trucks.
My first significant DIY on a 9.3. Job was not hard but it took me about 7 hours to diagnose, disassemble, clean. Three hours to install new parts and test. No leaks, gauge and thermostat appear to be functioning properly.
