No discernable gel bubble on either original or NOS Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 2 May 2015 16:59:41 In Reply to: Do those have the "gel bubble", or is it flat?, Tulsaab [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 2 May 2015 08:33:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I actually purchased a completely blank rear badge disc from a California junk yard earlier this year when it looked as if the Australian NOS pieces were not obtainable. I also purchased one of the vinyl stickers from the guy in Portugal, the emblem sticker with just the Griffin head and no words, to attach to the blank base.
The I suddenly received a response to one of my offers to send small parts to Saabers in Australia, parts they cannot obtain easily or affordably there, in exchange for them sending me one of these badges. So now I have two repair solution in hand and my original rear badge still has 90% of its enamel intact.
Yes, the ability of the vinyl sticker to conform and adhere to the curved badge backing plate, and stay attached for years, is/was a concern of mine.
