I got a crazy low price from my Indy Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 25 May 2015 15:50:19 In Reply to: Higher than expected engine/trans R/R bill..opinions?, Vinnie, Mon, 25 May 2015 13:12:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have been chasing a small annoying oil leak on my Viggen. My Indy told me recently that if the latest round of known oil leak source component replacements (Oil pressure sender which was leaking and oil cooler O-rings that were brittle hard) did not eliminate the problem, then my next option is full R&R of the engine so that he can change out the front timing cover gasket.
He told me "I have done this job before on other cars/Saabs, and the cost will be $800".
To me this price is crazy low for the work involved, but still too high when my only problem is a couple of nuisance oil drips on the baking sheet I keep under the car.
