AC electrical woes

1999 9-3. AC was functioning properly, then suddenly not working. Compressor clutch does not engage. Refrigerant level is fine. I disconnected the electrical connector behind the PS headlight and connected 12V directly from the battery. Clutch engaged and AC worked properly. I connected a volt meter to the other side of the connector and got nothing. Next I swapped out the relay, and still got nothing. I do get power at the relay, checked that as well, but I'm not sure what pins are even supposed to be hot. All the fuses were checked, and are not suspect. I don't know the pinout for the connecter at the dash, so it's difficult to check to see if the dash switch is bad. The recirc switch and the rear defroster work fine. I also don't have a wiring schematic for the car so I'm having trouble tracing the issue. I found a wiring diagram online, but the components were listed as numbers, and without the key, it's pretty useless.
Anyone have any insight?
