Gary,
Unfortunately the warranty only covers the muffler &resonator but not the flex pipe and connecting bits (or whatever they are called). However I've had a couple of flex pipe insertions without a problem interfacing with the other parts. So, given that other than the flex pipes it's been 13 years and 110k miles I'm hopeful this will last till end of life. This is an expensive part of the country and Trusty the mechanic has eaten mistakes and gone above the call of duty on other occasions, so it looks like he will get the business. However, I think it's time to look around for a shade-tree type mechanic who competes on price for bread and butter repairs.
This is a third car for the two of us (saab, new BMW, and still reliable 15 yr old rav4)so we can give up the ghost at any time. But the Saab still runs nicely and reliably, and we are thinking of doing a little body work to curtail the rust starting to develop around the rear wheel wells.
Thanks for your help.
