I bought my Viggen convertible in late summer of 2013 Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 23 Oct 2015 17:24:50 In Reply to: Please help a Newbe whow wants a Saab convertible., PhilNYC, Fri, 23 Oct 2015 16:12:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
No problem with parts yet. The car is a 2000 model with 72K miles (purchased with 66K miles). At 59 years of age we are in the same demographic. The OG9-3 feels smaller and sportier than even my wife's '06 NG9-3. The car is a hoot to drive but I STRONGLY recommend adding the steering rack brace and larger diameter rear anti-sway bar to conquer the Viggen's notorious torque steer. A urethane transmission mount helps to eliminate the 'mystery shifter' feel of the gear shifter.
The '04 and newer convertibles have rocket propelled roll bars behind the rear seats which deploy in emergency situations for added safety. The '03 and older rely on the very stout windshield frame only for roll-over protection.
