Well, here is some basic info. You CANNOT swap out camshaft journal caps or have them change place (that's why they are numbered) or turn them backwards since they are all machined together with cylinder head.
The same goes for main bearing caps and connecting rod caps.
You can however switch out camshafts and crankshafts for another one if they are damaged and also the hydraulic tappets for valves just to name a few things you can swap out.
If the engine is back together now and running, you just have to drive it and see if it gets quite after a few miles.
But based on our conversation, it is a few things that might happen or have happened. Maybe you did not know about the different bolts for cam journal caps and and now the cam bearings and tappets are not getting enough oil or that the engine is worn enough to not build enough oil pressure to fill the tappets.
