As others have stated you never know how much damage has taken place to the engine due to possible oil starvation over time. I would guess that 75% of the time replacing the oil pick up screen and o-rings is sufficient to get the car back on the road for awhile. The other 25% need additional work. If when the pan is removed bearing remains such as babbit chunks or copper are found in the "coffee grounds" there are problems.
I would not chance replacing the oil pressure switch. It is only a switch and usually doesn't turn on the light unless oil pressure is under 10psi. They usually leak and are replaced long before they fail as a sensor/switch. Good Luck, Bernie
